LifePoint Homeschool Co-op

"Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'" -Matthew 19:14

About LHC

LHC is a ministry of LifePoint Church in Waldorf, MD. This homeschool co-op cultivates and supports a culture for Christian families that upholds a perspective of the world and our lives centered on biblical truth and creates fertile ground for raising respectful, critical thinkers. It is our hope that this group will serve as a ministry for families in LifePoint Church and the greater homeschooling community.

Students range from preschool age through high school with the amount of classes per age group based on space and necessity.

When LHC meets

In the fall, LHC will meet in person on Thursdays from 10am-2pm at LifePoint Church for 24 weeks out of the year. In addition, there are some optional field trips included. When LHC has a field trip on a Thursday, there are no co-op classes.

We start the day at 10 a.m. with an assembly that includes prayer, devotional, announcements, and a family spotlight. Following the assembly, there are three blocks of classes with a break for lunch. All classes are 50 to 55 minutes long, and there are classes offered every period for each age group starting with preschool. There is also nursery care available for infants or toddlers for any parents who are teaching or serving in that block. Families are welcome to sign-up for one or more classes, based on what meets their needs, and to stay for lunch.

How LHC runs

One of the most important aspects of LHC is that it is a co-op operated by homeschooling families for homeschooling families. Simply put, this co-op exists through parents and guardians working together behind the scenes, in the classrooms, in the nursery, in setup, breakdown, and in every other area conceivable. It is an all-hands-on-deck co-op, which keeps the costs low and allows our kids to see us leading and serving alongside them and one another. LHC is not a drop-off program.

Each family's onsite parent/guardian is required to serve in some capacity for up to two blocks each semester if they attend the full day and for a minimum of one hour if they attend two blocks or less. While we do try to take into account people’s skills, areas of expertise, life seasons, and preferences, all service hours must be filled. In addition, even when parents aren’t signed up for a particular class or role, if we’re shorthanded parents will be required to serve wherever needed.

Volunteer Instructors

LHC has been blessed with volunteer instructors teaching some of our classes. If volunteering with our ministry interests you or someone you know - even if you don’t homeschool - please continue reading so that you gain an idea of the culture and how the co-op is run. Then we invite you to submit an email with additional details, including your experience,
contact information, the subject and curriculum
you are proposing, and student age range.

Background Checks & More

For security purposes, any onsite parent/guardian and all volunteer instructors must complete background checks before registering/participating. This is done online using a secure and private link.

In addition, teachers and assistants must sign the LHC teacher integrity covenant. And all LHC admins must be LifePoint members who have signed the aforementioned forms and Leadership Covenant.

Membership Agreement

Parents or guardians of LHC member families are required to read, agree to honor, and sign the LifePoint Homeschool Co-op membership agreement before registering. The full agreement - which includes the Wesleyan Church's statement of faith, safety protocols, and LHC policies in detail - is linked below for your review. We request that you read the agreement carefully before considering enrolling.

Registration and Class Fees

There is no fee to enroll in LHC. Registration is $75 per family, with additional fees for some classes and required materials.

All class material fees (and requirements) will be disclosed when registration is opened. All costs must be paid in order to complete registration. Class fees are nonrefundable unless a student is withdrawn at least two weeks before classes begin. The family registration fee can be refunded up to two weeks before Fall 2025 classes begin if approved by LHC administrators.

Enrollment for the 2025-26 school year is dependent upon availability within each age group, and a first-come, first-served waitlist is maintained for families who want to join when space is limited.

Contact Information, etc.

Families interested in joining LHC for the 2025-26 school year, should complete the INTEREST form. Those families will be contacted and notified of available space and either enrolled in the co-op or added to the waitlist, depending on availability.

Contact will initially come from homeschool@ilifepoint.com, though additional conversations may be had over text or by phone.

If a family is enrolled, they will be added to the LHC group email list, and they will receive any updates and registration information as it becomes available.

Families who complete registration will also be added to the GroupMe account for group communications.

Weather and Other Policies

Generally, LHC follows the Charles County Public Schools in cases of inclement weather, closings, and holidays. On rare occasions, LifePoint will close the campus for other significant events.

A tentative calendar will be given to all families enrolled for the 2025-26 school year. The calendar may shift slightly due to snow days or church events.

We ask all families and instructors to follow the CCPS sick policy. If any participant in the co-op is sick, we ask that they stay home, rest, and feel better.

For those leading or helping in any area of the co-op, we ask that you coordinate with your assistant or leader and notify at least one of the admins ASAP.

LHC INTEREST FORM

This form is for new families interested in joining LHC for the 2025-26 school year. Thank you for familiarizing yourself with all of the information on this Webpage and reading the Membership Agreement thoroughly before you complete the form.
