21 DAYS OF PRAYER AND FASTING

For the next 21 days, starting Sunday, September 1, you are invited to join us as we listen more intently for God's voice; deepen our knowledge about prayer and fasting; and demonstrate our love for one another through prayer. Each week we'll make one of these our prayer focus, but, most importantly, we'll ask the Holy Spirit to guide us and transform us as we make prayer a priority. "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans," Romans 8:26.

Week 1

LISTENING IN PRAYER

Begin this week by seeking the Lord in prayer and through His Word. Come before Him without an agenda. Let Him set the terms and simply enjoy being in His presence, listening for His voice. What is He calling you to do or to fast? Is He calling you to pray for something specific? Ask the Lord to spiritually awaken you, to awaken the world around us so we see the beauty of Who He is. Wake us up, Lord!
"Then a cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud: 'This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!'" Mark 9:7

Week 2

LEARNING TO PRAY

This week, begin by praying daily through the Lord's Prayer in Luke 11:1-4. Allow Him to guide this time. It's not about our own expectations or plans. Ask the Lord to teach you more about prayer, just as He taught the first 12 disciples. Trust that as we take a posture of humility and repentance, He will grant us greater understanding, transforming our minds and our hearts.
"One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, 'Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples,'" Luke 11:1.

Week 3

LOVING THROUGH PRAYER

In our final week, let's be on mission as the Church, praying for our families, brothers and sisters in Christ, neighbors, co-workers, and communities. We are called to pray for those near, here, hard, and far, especially the lost. Sometimes this is the only way we can show the love of Christ. Who is God calling you to show His love to through prayer? Remember, when God's people pray, He is faithful to answer.
"I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them,” John 17:26.
